GROW, LEARN AND ENJOY SUSTAINABLE FARMING
WHAT'S GOING ON!
Planning for more turkeys and poultry in 2023!
2022 was the year of the Turkey here at GFH. We've spent a lot of time, thought and planning on what type of meat animals we wanted to raise for food. We chose turkeys because, well, they're different. Turkeys are simple meat birds to manage and raise similar to chickens but offer a different type of meat to the local market we live in. We enjoyed turkeys and in 2023 will include ducks and chickens!
Fresh Duck Eggs
Great for eating or hatching! Upgrade your baking by adding our farm fresh duck eggs to your next recipe. Duck eggs are about 50% larger than a jumbo chicken egg; meaning three chicken eggs will equal two duck eggs. Our duck eggs contain more antioxidants, more omega-3 fatty acids, and 50% more vitamin A than chicken eggs. Duck eggs offer more protein than chicken eggs, even taking size into consideration. They have an extra bit of fat which makes them excellent for cakes, breads or even eating on their own! Hatching our fertile duck eggs takes about similar effort to hatching chickens (I've found you'll need to rotate about 6 times a day).

Here at GFH we do not vaccinate or give any hormones to our turkeys. From day one, they are fed premium feed then moved to pasture to feast on healthy pasture greens and bugs. Our turkeys are provided with shallow pools to play in, lots of shade, places to perch and other fun types of stimulation to make them happy and stress free. We believe this adds to increased levels of vitamins and minerals their meet provides.
